Beliefs
Our Beliefs Simplified
1. The Nature of God
- We believe in one God who reveals Himself in three distinct ways: as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration.
- Scripture Reference: Matthew 28:19 (The Great Commission teaches us about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.)
2. The Identity of Jesus
- We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, performed miracles, and by His death and resurrection, He offers us salvation.
- Scripture Reference: Colossians 2:9 (“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”)
3. The Human Condition
- We believe all people inherit a sinful nature that leads to sin and the need for salvation through Jesus.
- Scripture Reference: Romans 3:23 (“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”)
4. The Experience of Salvation
- We believe in the need for a ‘New Birth’ experience, which includes faith in Jesus, repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and receiving the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
- Scripture Reference: Acts 2:38-39 (“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'”)
5. Living in the Spirit
- We believe that those filled with the Holy Spirit will show evidence through their lives and may operate in spiritual gifts.
- Scripture Reference: Galatians 5:22-23 (Fruit of the Spirit), 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (Gifts of the Spirit).
6. The Authority of Scripture
- We believe the Bible is God-inspired, authoritative, and the foundation for all Christian beliefs and living.
- Scripture Reference: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”)
7. The Existence of Evil
- We believe in a spiritual being called Satan, who opposes God and His work.
- Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 5:8 (“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”)
8. The Lord’s Supper
- We believe in commemorating the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice.
- Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 (“…Do this in remembrance of me…”)
9. The Resurrection and Judgment
- We believe in a final resurrection and judgment. Those saved will enjoy eternal life, while those not will face eternal separation from God.
- Scripture Reference: John 5:28-29 (“…a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out…”)
10. The Church and Its Mission
- We believe the church is Christ’s living body on earth, called to fulfill the Great Commission and that salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus.
- Scripture Reference: Matthew 28:19-20 (The Great Commission), Romans 10:13 (“…Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”)
