Healing Room Code of Conduct
Introduction
Welcome to the Healing Room. We believe in the power of prayer and the healing presence of the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to create a safe, loving, and Spirit-filled environment where people can experience the healing and restorative power of Jesus Christ. This Code of Conduct is established to ensure that all prayer ministry is conducted in a manner that honors both the person receiving prayer and the legal requirements of New South Wales, Australia.
General Principles
-
Love and Respect: All interactions should be grounded in the love of Christ. Show respect for the dignity, autonomy, and personal beliefs of the person receiving prayer.
-
Consent: Always obtain clear consent before beginning any prayer. Ask if the person is comfortable with being prayed for, and inquire if there are any specific areas they would like prayer for.
-
Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality regarding any personal information shared during the prayer session. This is a sacred trust and should be honored.
-
Non-Coercion: Prayer should never be coercive. The person receiving prayer should feel free to express their feelings, thoughts, and reactions without fear of judgment or persuasion.
-
Compliance with NSW Law: Be aware of and compliant with all relevant NSW laws, including those pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity. Prayer should not be used as a means of conversion therapy or to convince someone to change their sexual orientation or gender identity.
-
Listening to the Holy Spirit: Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in all prayer interactions, allowing Him to guide the direction and focus of the prayer.
Guidelines for Prayer Ministry
-
Ask for Direction: Begin each session by asking the person if they have specific areas where they would like prayer. Respect their wishes and focus on the areas they mention.
-
Pray with Compassion: Always approach prayer with a heart of compassion, seeking the well-being and comfort of the person receiving prayer.
-
No Imposition of Beliefs: Avoid imposing personal beliefs or convictions onto the person receiving prayer. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in their heart according to His will.
-
Allow Space for Expression: Encourage the person receiving prayer to share how they are feeling or what they are experiencing during and after the prayer. Validate their experiences and feelings.
-
Pray with Clarity and Sensitivity: Use clear, simple language in your prayers, being sensitive to the person’s emotional and spiritual state.
-
Honor Boundaries: Be mindful of physical, emotional, and spiritual boundaries. Do not touch the person without explicit consent, and be respectful of personal space.
-
Follow-Up: If appropriate, ask the person if they would like follow-up prayer or support. Ensure that they have the freedom to decline without feeling pressured.
Special Considerations for Physical Healing Prayer
-
Faith and Expectation: Approach physical healing prayer with faith and expectation, believing that Jesus is our healer. However, remain sensitive to the person’s feelings and beliefs about healing.
-
Permission for Physical Contact: Before laying hands on someone for physical healing, ask for their explicit permission. Respect their comfort level and only proceed if they are fully comfortable.
-
Focus on the Person’s Experience: Encourage the person to share how they feel during the prayer, whether they experience physical sensations, emotions, or spiritual impressions. Validate their experience, regardless of the outcome.
-
Respect Medical Advice: Always respect and encourage the person to continue following any medical advice they have received. Prayer is a complement to, not a replacement for, medical treatment.
-
Avoid Making Promises: Do not make promises or guarantees regarding healing. Trust in God’s sovereignty and His plan for each person, acknowledging that healing can manifest in various ways.
-
Sensitivity to Pain: If the person experiences pain or discomfort during prayer, stop and ask them how they would like to proceed. Adjust your approach based on their feedback.
-
Encouragement and Hope: Offer encouragement and hope, reminding the person of God’s love and care for them, regardless of the immediate outcome of the prayer.
Conclusion

By following this Code of Conduct, we ensure that all ministry is conducted in a manner that honors God, respects the person receiving prayer, and complies with NSW law.
